Ashley Young to sign a new contract

Ashley Young is set to put pen to paper as the Red Devils are closing in on an extension for the full-back.

Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw against Burnley at Old Trafford on Tuesday. Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken over the Red Devils, they have maintained an unbeaten record with 8 wins and a draw in the last nine games, thereby cutting down the bridge between them and the fourth-placed Arsenal to just two points.

The likes of Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, and Marcus Rashford have been flourishing under the management of the Norwegian. It is not only that the interim boss is able to get results, but he has been able to keep the entire squad happy which is the foremost to attain success.

There were many reports quoting that Anthony Martial is close to putting pen to paper to extend his deal with the Red Devils up to 2024. The Frenchman made it sure that he would not be signing a contract extension under the former manager Jose Mourinho, but talks have accelerated once the Portuguese International has left the club.

There also various reports that the Red Devils are preparing a deal for their shot-stopper David De Gea. The Spaniard International has a contract until 2020, but the board are trying to tie him down to a new contract as soon as possible. It is also understood that the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is seeking a hefty salary to stay put.

It looks like Manchester United are preparing their third contract extension within a short span of time. According to Mirror, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to extend the contract for their full-back Ashley Young who is reportedly attracting interest from Inter Milan.

To fend off the interest from the Italian Giants, the English outfit are prepared to hand a new contract to him as they see him as a plan for next season. The English International is currently on 130,000 pounds per week.

The report also adds on that the former Aston Villa winger has been handed out a new one year contract as the Red Devils are reluctant to tie long-term deals to the players over the age of 30. Ashley Young was signed by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011, and it is likely to see him stay for another year at Old Trafford despite not finding a way to accept terms till date.

Alongside Ashley Young, it is likely to see Ander Herrera sign a new contract, but Juan Mata’s future hangs in the air as the Spaniard has rejected an approach from the Red Devils. Further, David De Gea, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford are the players in line to commit their future to the Red Devils on a long-term basis.
