Bangladesh vs Pakistan Match Prediction: Pitch Report, Key Battles, Who will win today’s South Africa vs West Indies warm-up match | Cricket World Cup 2019

Bangladesh vs Pakistan Match Prediction: The Sportsrush present before you the Match Prediction of warm-up match between BAN vs PAK.

Two of the least favoured sides in this ICC ODI World Cup are set to face-off against each other on Sunday. Pakistan would be looking to put behind them the crumbling defeat they faced against Afghanistan last night. Defeated by 3 wickets in their first warm-up match, Pakistan are now win-less in 11 cricket matches on the international stage.

It was not just the way Pakistan lost but the abysmal way in which they threw the match away that makes for a cause of concern for the side. Be it the batting or bowling department, both tumbled in unison with a massive middle-order debacle followed up by a fiasco of an opening spell by the pacers.

When they take on Bangladesh, Pakistan know things aren’t going to be easy for them yet again. The side are coming off a tri-nation series triumph in Ireland. However, Pakistan have always fared well against Bangladesh and they’ll be looking to curb their inclement spree with a win against an opponent who hardly know how to win against them.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan – Pitch Report

Sophia Gardens in Cardiff is likely to be a placid and flat deck which will favour the batsmen from the word go. Clean, pure cricketing shots will be awarded fruitfully, something South Africa showed as they piled on over 300 against Sri Lanka in the warm-up match held here a couple of days prior.

There will be the slightest of offering to the pacers with the new ball but once the white ball loses its sheen and batsmen get into their groove, get bat onto ball will be the simplest of asks. The toss is a no-brainer with the winning side to bat first and get a good read of the conditions at hand.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan – Key Battles

Mashrafe Mortaza vs Babar Azam

With six wickets against West Indies in the recently concluded series, Mashrafe Mortaza bowled at a trajectory that made him a tricky proposition to work around. The restrictive line and length and astute deliveries made it difficult for batsmen to get under the deliveries, something that saw wickets up in both the opening and closing spells.

Under conditions which are expected to see light rainfall during the day with the sun not set to make a foray until the afternoon, the conditions will support true pace bowling. The ball will dip and nib around and if Bangladesh bowl first, Mortaza will be looking to get movement on the ball.

Having said that, he’ll need to come up with something different against Babar Azam. Pakistan’s No. 3 scored a century against England earlier and followed it up with a century against Afghanistan in the warm-up match as well. If he can get going once again, his side will still be in with a chance of putting on some kind of alright total.

Tamim Iqbal vs Wahab Riaz

Pakistan is one side in particular which Tamim Iqbal likes playing against. With three 50s and two 100s in his previous five encounters against Pakistan, the opener will be looking to make the most of a lapses filled Pakistan bowling unit.

Pakistan have endured one torrid time with the ball, something that was particularly emphasized with the way England cleaned them out recently. It continued against Afghanistan as well with the pace department as toothless at it could, completely ineffective. Their failure to pick up wickets at regular intervals saw Afghanistan keep coming up with cameos which eventually saw them win by 3 wickets.

However, Wahab Riaz did manage to keep his line and length accurate in the death overs, something that saw him pick up 3-46. His side will be relying on him yet again to deliver something in an otherwise well dismal bowling side.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan – What numbers suggest?

In 36 matches the two countries have contested in, Pakistan clearly lead this fixture with 31 wins as opposed to just the 5 for Bangladesh. One of those wins for Bangladesh came in 2018 when the two sides last met in each in the Asia Cup. In a low-scoring encounter on the day, Bangladesh managed to defend their nothing score of 239 by skittling over Pakistan for an abject 202 to win by 37 runs.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan – Match Prediction

It’s safe to say that nothing much is working for Pakistan at this point in time. They have now gone nine straight matches without a win in 2019. Be it the batting or bowling unit, apart from a couple of solid individual performances, the team as a unit has fallen apart far too easily to be trounced by sides.

Enduring a torrid time, we don’t see Pakistan winning this encounter either. Bangladesh are coming into the match having defeated West Indies three times in the space of 10 days. The top-order has come good for them and against a languishing Pakistan bowling unit, they’ll find it easy to get the runs on the board yet again.

Expect Bangladesh to have an easy time while batting with their spinners wrecking havoc among Pakistan. Bangladesh should give Pakistan their second warm-up defeat in the build up to the quadrennial even.
