Barcelona’s season has been a mixed bag of fortunes, with the club failing to close in on the La Liga winners Real Madrid after narrowly edging them out 3-2 in the win at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In Europe, Barcelona was knocked out thanks to the determined side led by Lionel Messi’s national teammate and fellow left-footer Paulo Dybala. The only fortune that they had was the 3-1 Copa Del Rey success they had over the minnows Alaves.
Fresh off the 3-1 Copa Del Rey victory over the Basque side Deportivo Alaves S.A.D, Barcelona has announced that the kit that they would be wearing for the upcoming season in Spanish’s top division.

The Catalan giants would be seen sporting the jersey with the Japanese giants Rakuten for the first time in its history starting from the 1st of July. The new kit is starkly in contrast with the previous kit, despite it having the colours of Blaugrana.

As per the official announcement on their website, it says “The new FC Barcelona’s Nike Vapor home kit is an updated interpretation of the traditional Blaugrana, defined by a progressive combination of the traditional stripes with revolutionary Aeroswift technology, to produce cutting edge performance apparel, replete with modern detailing.”
While on the torso, the traditional strip is updated and defined by a red diminished vertical stripe against a royal blue background. The Catalan flag called ‘Seynera’ is ever-so-visible on the backside of the collar of the new kit. The shirt’s engineered knit zones create a subtle geometric pattern that enhances fit for the athlete in motion.

Neymar Jr said to the club at the launch of the new jersey, “Pulling on the new Barça kit for the first time creates a mixture of pride and optimism for the season ahead. It looks and feels like a modern uniform of sport.”

While the shorts remains similar in design and colour as to the previous one wore by the Catalans.
Marc ter Stegen’s renewal of contract:
The German keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has agreed to a deal which will extend his contract from 2018 to the year 2022. His buyout clause for the interested clubs would be a massive 180 million euros. In the span of three years that the German keeper has been in the club, he has won 9 trophies in total, out of the possible 13.
The nine trophies include two league titles, three Copa del Reys’, one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one Spanish Super Cup and one European Super Cup. At the club, the German keeper has been in charge of the posts for 93 matches, where 71 of them have resulted in a victory, with ten draws and 12 losses conceding a total of 90 goals in as many matches.
