BCCI announce Indian cricket team's home schedule for 2019-20 season

BCCI announce Indian cricket team’s home schedule: The Indian board has announced the home schedule from September to March.

BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have announced India’s schedule for their upcoming home season. Commencing on September 15, the grueling season will last till March 18 and will involve series across formats with South Africa, Bangladesh, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Australia.

Other than just the dates, BCCI have also made public the venues which have been distributed across the country. The development was made a few minutes ago on the official Twitter handle of BCCI.

The season will start with three T20Is and three Tests against South Africa, who had last toured India in 2015. The same will be followed by India hosting Bangladesh for a couple of Test matches, the first time that Bangladesh will play a two-match Test series in India.

The month of December will see India hosting West Indies for three T20Is and three ODIs. The surprising element of the schedule is that Zimbabwe will tour India for a three-match T20I series in the second week of January 2020. The last time Zimbabwe had toured India was for two Test matches and five ODIs in 2002.

The third week of January will see Australia play three ODIs against India in India. In what has come as a source of amazement is the fact that the Aussies will tour India during a time when their own home season is usually at its peak.

The season will end with a three-match ODI series against South Africa in March 2018. It is worth mentioning that India are scheduled to visit West Indies after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
