The Board of Control for Cricket India has announced the squad for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka. The selectors were spot on with their clear-cut selection so far.

After the two Tests, India lead 1-0 in the three-match Test series with the Eden Gardens Test ended as a draw then followed it up by a 239 innings victory in Nagpur Test.

The third match is scheduled to be played at the iconic Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi from December 2-6. A draw or a win will ensure India’s Test series victory.

The three openers, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul have made a real case for themselves as viable opening batsmen whenever they have been given chances.

Shikhar Dhawan was out of the playing XI in the second Test giving Murali Vijay a chance. Much to his comeback, he responded it with a candid century. Dhawan is in contention for the third Test. His name was also named in the squad.

The ever consistent Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli will look to add big numbers to their statistics. Rohit Sharma’s stellar comeback of his 3rd Test century has made the cut as usual. It was not that difficult for the selectors to pick the right ones.

Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest bowler to 300 Test wickets in Nagpur Test. Though spinners gain no assistance from Feroz Shah Kotla, Ravi Ashwin
