Note- After the teams sheets were out we have replaced Kayes, Fernando, Rajapaksha with Simmons, Zyl and RL Robi.
It will be a battle between two contrasting teams in the tournament when Chattogram Challengers and Cumilla Warriors square off in the 27th match of the Bangladesh Premier League. The Challengers have played some exceptional cricket which has resulted in their top position in the points table at the moment. They have 6 matches so far from 8 outings and will be looking to keep their great form going.
Lendl Simmons will be unavailable as he has flown back to West Indies for national duties. Meanwhile, the replacements will look to take the opportunity count. On the other hand, Cumilla Warriors is going through a lean patch and has lost 4 matches on the bounce. They need to start winning consistently to harbor hopes of going through to the last 4. All in all, we must be in for an exciting clash in two hours’ time.
Pitch Conditions and Toss
The pitch used at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium in Dhaka has been predominantly batting friendly. However, the bowlers have also got some purchase from this ground. The spinners, in particular, have come into the act especially in the second innings. Hence the team winning the toss should be tempted to bat first as they will prefer facing the spinners in the 1st half. However, either captain could think out of the box and opt to chase.
Probable Playing XI’s
Lendl Simmons and Kesrick Williams have flown back to West Indies and won’t be a part of this clash. Nasum Ahmed is also suffering from high fever and is unlikely to take part in this game.

Chadwick Walton and Nurul Hasan will be the first two picks in our dream XI team. Walton has played with flair in the tournament so far and has chalked up runs pretty consistently. On the other hand youngster, Nurul Hasan has also looked in good touch and has chipped in with useful knocks. Both will be sensible picks in the dream XI team especially given the fact that there are some big players missing from both teams.
Imrul Kayes, Avishka Fernando, and Bhanuka Rajpaksha will be the first three picks of the batsmen category. Kayes has been very consistent run-scorer in this tournament so far and has smashed two half-centuries and some other important knocks as well. Bhanuka Rajpaksha scored a sensational 90 in an earlier match and has looked in great touch. However, consistency hasn’t been there. Meanwhile Sri Lankan youngster Avishka Fernando is a fine timer of the ball and has been a pivotal player for his team. Having announced his arrival during the 2019 World Cup, this youngster has come along a huge path and will look to make an impact today.
Sabbir Rahman and Dawid Malan will be the next two picks in this category. Malan is a free-flowing striker of the ball and has done a great job for his side. Sabbir is a bit of an X factor who can hit the big shots on a consistent basis. He isn’t an automatic choice but picking him could work wonders in the end. He is a bit of a lottery player.
Soumya Sarkar is the only all-rounder in this segment. He is an ideal foil to the other players. Sarkar can hit the big shots on a consistent basis and can also chip in with some useful overs in the middle.
Mujeeb-ur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Rana, and Liam Plunkett will form the bowling group. Mujeeb is an exceptional owler and has shown his varieties in the tournament so far. Mehedi hasn’t played too many matches but is a useful option. Plunkett is an experienced campaigner and will look to make an impact for his team.
Captain and Vice-Captain
Soumya Sarkar will be the captain of the day while Chadwick Walton will be the vice-captain.
