Maurizio Sarri to stay as Chelsea boss

Chelsea have decided Maurizio Sarri’s future following a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea were going toe-to-toe with Liverpool and Manchester City for the first three months, but their hopes of winning the title crashed down after their recent slumps over the last two months.

The Italian International has been criticised for using the same tactics against all the sides and the results have not been on the brighter side too.

Following the victory over Manchester City in December, it has gone to another extreme for the Blues. When they were flying after beating Pep Guardiola’s side, they were heavily beaten by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. It was followed by the 6-0 drubbing to Manchester City at the Etihad.

When fans were expecting a comeback against their top four competitor, they were truly undone by Manchester United who deserved to progress to the next round of the FA Cup. When Chelsea were 2-0 down, their own fans vented their frustration and revolted against their own manager by shouting “Fk Sarri ball, Fk Sarri Ball”

Many Chelsea fans were demanding their club to sack Maurizio Sarri after a shambolic display against the Red Devils. However, the club is ready to keep him for now and are ready to monitor the results against Manchester City and Malmo which will decide his fate at Stamford Bridge, says, Independent.

Apart from these two games, the Blues face will face Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur on February 27. They cannot afford to lose these games, and if they do so, the Italian could be in an untidy place.

The Blues are currently sixth in the Premier League table. They are separated by the fifth-placed Arsenal by goals scored and two points adrift of Manchester United. Certainly, there is every chance of finishing in the top four if they pick up the form before it’s too late.

If he doesn’t guarantee Champions League football next term, there are every chance of seeing him head the exit door at the London outfit. Owner Roman Abramovich is not renowned to be patient and has a history of sacking the managers without giving adaptation period.

Before his reign, Chelsea fans were unhappy when the former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez was chosen as the Interim manager in 2013. Despite having constant abuse from his own set of fans, the Spaniard put the club in a good position by finishing third and winning the Europa League.

It has been a tough time for Chelsea who have been poor in their recruitment over the last two seasons. It is also down to the part of the owner Roman who has not attended a game since last summer.

Club legend and current Derby County boss Frank Lampard is touted to be the replacement for  Maurizio Sarri, but the club feels it would be too early for their ex-player to in charge.
