Chelsea Transfer News: Blues eyeing to capture the highly-rated RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano to bolster the struggling defence.
Chelsea is aiming to bolster their squad ahead of the next season, the Blues have already guaranteed the services of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig on a hefty transfer.
But the London based club is not ready to limit themselves till there. According to claims by the Athletic, Chelsea is now considering to land another RB Leipzig player- Dayot Upamecano to bolster their defence.
Chelsea desperately needs reinforcements in the defence, if they wish to challenge for the Premier League next season, their attack is already superfluous and need no additions for the upcoming season.
But surely there are concerns in the defence, they have already been targeting Ben Chilwell, but the asking price of Leicester City is too high for them to match.
Thus, the Blues are now considering to land Layvin Kurzawa, who is now a free agent after being released by PSG. So, allowing Chelsea to utilize remaining funds at a reliable centre-back.
It has been reported that Chelsea’s city rival Arsenal is also targeting Upamecano for a long time and if Chelsea advances their interests, then most likely the West London club would hijack the deal.
It will not be for the first time that Chelsea would be doing this to the North London club, as it earlier has lured their targets and snatched them in front of their eyes.
Nevertheless, the decision remains with Upamecano, who will be free to join any club provided they trigger his £50million release clause. But it wouldn’t be a surprise if Werner’s deal aids Upamecano’s transfer to Chelsea.
