The 20-year-old midfielder is a bright prospect as he had a sensational season with Bayer Leverkusen. In 43 games across all competitions, he bagged 17 goals and 9 assists.
Which led to many teams inquiring about him, but his cost warded most of them away, including the German giants Bayern Munich, giving Chelsea clear path.
Due to the cost of the last two signings by Chelsea, this might be the last signing in the summer transfer window. But the Blues are in real need of some reinforcements in defence.
And the quality prospects in the market in defence are not cheap either. So, probably Chelsea will have to wait till January to bring defenders except they generate alternate streams of revenue from player transfers and invest.
How Chelsea are affording two of most expensive signings
Due to the financial strain caused by Coronavirus, many clubs aren’t able to finance their targets. Hence giving clubs like Chelsea to take advantage of the situation.
The reason why Chelsea presently is rich in resources, because the money they generated from Eden Hazard’s sale is still left even after Ziyech and Wener’s signings.
The transfer ban on Chelsea prevented them to spend last summer, thus it got added this year’s budget. Moreover, Real Madrid winning La Liga brings an additional €15 million to Chelsea as per the agreement they signed last summer, giving extra cash to Chelsea to make luxurious signings.
