Twitter reacts on Eden Hazard’s brace which lifts Chelsea to third in the Premier League table.
Chelsea invited their arch-rivals West Ham to Stamford Bridge and beat them 2-0 to go third in the league table. The Blues started Eden Hazard, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus Cheek, and Gonzalo Higuain up front and looked in much more control during the first half.
The hosts kept on tapping on the door of West Ham defence which stood strong until Eden Hazard scored a crazy solo goal to hand over the lead for Chelsea in the 24th minute. On the other hand, the hammers looked flimsy and could have conceded another goal before the end of the half-time whistle.
Callum Hudson-Odoi had an excellent chance to put the game beyond the eyesight of Manuel Pellegrini’s side, but Lukas Fabianski made a good save to tip the ball over the crossbar. During the second part of the game, the Chilean made a tactical tweak which made West Ham to continuously press for the game.
Left-back Aaron Cresswell came the closest when his shot was very inches away from the goal post. Chelsea keeper Kepa made a good save to deny Robert Snodgrass to shut down the attack of West Ham in the 70th minute. Sarri’s substitution came into effect as Ross Barkley and Pedro made an instant difference by providing the much needed fresh leg and stretched the game at times.
Bursting in a counter attack, Eden Hazard was left free in the far post and the Belgian tucked the ball past the hammers shot-stopper to secure all three points and hand a massive boost to qualify for the Champions League next season.
With this victory, the Blues jump two spots up to the third place in the league table.
