Why is Jhye Richardson not playing today's BBL 12 match between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat at the Optus Stadium?

The 33rd league match of the BBL 12 is played between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Perth Scorchers won the toss and opted to bowl first, and they would want to get back on winning ways at their home ground.

Perth Scorchers have a lot of changes in their eleven where Jhye Richardson, Faf du Plessis and Adam Lyth are not playing the match. They lost the last match and losing that many big players will certainly not help the side in this match. However, this team is one of the best in the tournament, and they have the ability to come back.

This is the last game of Colin Munro and Sam Billings with the Brisbane Heat, and they would want to make it count this time around. They have won just two of their seven games in the tournament so far.

Why is Jhye Richardson not playing today’s BBL 12 match

Perth Scorchers are missing the services of their star pacer Jhye Richardson in this match, whereas Faf du Plessis is also not playing in the match. Richardson is one of the most important pillars of the Scorchers’ side and his absence is a very big miss for the Scorchers.

Richardson injured his hamstring in the last match and was clearly struggling to bowl the last over. The injury of Richardson is serious, and he is set to miss the next few games. Perth Scorchers coach Adam Voges said that they are hopeful that Richardson will be back in the latter half of the tournament.

“It’s on the very minor end of a hamstring strain,” Adam Voges told the reporters on Friday.

“Unfortunately, it’s the same hamstring that he did injure six to 12 months ago so we may need to take the cautious route. Hopefully, we’ll get him back on the park as soon as possible.”

Richardson is the 2nd highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets, and he was on fire in the tournament. Lance Morris has replaced him in the team, who was on international duty earlier.
