Akash Madhwal Family: Everything We Know About Mumbai Indians Pacer’s Father, Mother, Siblings, Education
Mumbai Indians‘ bowler Akash Madhwal impressed everyone with his spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League 2022. The pacer originally hails from Uttarakhand. He was born in Dungra Village and later moved to Roorkee where he started his cricketing journey.
Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant also hails from Roorkee and interestingly both Pant and Madhwal are from Kumaoni families. Madhwal started playing cricket along with his brother with a plastic ball and bat. His professional journey started when he joined the Veer Shauya Cricket Academy. The Academy even felicitated him after his IPL selection.
Mumbai Indians had their eyes on Madhwal for a long time. He was roped in as a replacement for batter Suryakumar Yadav last season but didn’t play a single game. Madhwal used to be a net bowler for Mumbai and Royal Challengers Bangalore, and he also participated in the DY Patil T20 Tournament last year.
Akash Madhwal Family
Madhwal’s father’s name was Ghana Nand and he was in the Military Engineering Services (MES) wing of the Indian Army. Nand’s posting was in Roorkee and that’s why the family moved from Dungra. He passed away in 2010 at the age of 57. Asha is the name of Madhwal’s mother and she is a homemaker.
Madhwal also has one brother named Ashish. Both of them used to play cricket together in childhood. Madhwal was not just good in sports but was brilliant academically as well. He has completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the College of Engineering (COER), Roorkee.
The pacer decided not to pursue Engineering as a career and worked hard in the game. He made his first-class debut for Uttarakhand in 2019. He has so far played 10 first-class and 17 List-A games for his state side. Madhwal made his IPL debut this year against Punjab Kings.
Is Akash Madhwal Married?
Madhwal is not married yet and lives with his mother and brother. There is no information about his girlfriend as well in the public forum. He is religious as well and has an ‘OM’ tattoo on his right hand.
