The southpaw is famous for his jolly nature, and he is always seen joking around with other players on the field. Even when Dhawan gets out, one can see a smile on his face. Dhawan shares a good bond with former Indian captain Virat Kohli as well. Both of them are typical Delhi boys who love vibing on Punjabi songs.
Not the first instance of a cricketer making an appearance on ‘The Ranveer Show’, Dhawan engaged in a more than an hour-long conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia. Former Indian batters Aakash Chopra and Virender Sehwag also featured on the show recently.
While Chopra had thrown light on wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant‘s return to professional cricket, Sehwag talked about how once legendary Sachin Tendulkar got irritated with his singing habit. He also revealed his first encounter with Tendulkar.
Shikhar Dhawan Hilariously Reveals How He is Different From People’s Perception
Apart from his funny nature, Dhawan also put forward his spiritual and poetic side during the podcast. Dhawan revealed that he believes a lot in manifestation and he always creates positive scenarios in his mind before going into any match situation. He advised the youngsters to do the same as this particular habit helped him a lot in his career.
The 37-year old also said that he loves reading poetry. He insists that whenever he speaks, he wants his words to have a fragrance. After listening to these deep thoughts, Allahbadia laughed saying that he was expecting a fun conversation. Dhawan gave quite a hilarious reply on the same.
“Main dikhne mai bahut bada bakhchod lagta hoon, but hoon nahin [I look Bakchod, but I am not],” Dhawan hilariously said.
There is no exact meaning of the word ‘Bakchod’. It is a commonly used slang to describe someone who is carefree, does silly things and has the ability to pull the attention of his friends especially because of his sense of humour.
Shikhar Dhawan lauds MS Dhoni’s captaincy skills
During the course of the podcast, Dhawan had a lot of praise for former India captain MS Dhoni’s captaincy. He said that Dhoni used to keep the atmosphere of the side very chilled. He further disclosed that the team members used to respect Dhoni and that played a very big part in him managing the players well.
Talking about Dhoni’s aggression, Dhawan said that he knew when to get strict as he had the responsibility to run the entire team. He believes that it was necessary for Dhoni to use his authority.
“Dhoni bhai bada relaxed mahaul rakhte the, vo bohot chilled out hai [MS Dhoni is a chilled-out guy, and he used to keep the team atmosphere relaxing as well]. Jitna bolna hota hai utna hi bolte hai kyuki presence damdaar hai, [He used to speak in a limited manner due to strong presence among teammates],” Dhawan said.
Dhoni and Dhawan once opened together for India Seniors in the Challenger Series against India B. India B batted first and posted a total of 275 runs, in reply, India Seniors won the match by eight wickets. Both Dhoni and Dhawan stitched a partnership of 187 in 26 overs, and they scored their individual centuries as well.
