Cameron Green replacement: Who will replace injured Cam Green in Australia playing 11 in AUS vs SA Sydney test?

Australia and South Africa will play the 3rd test of the 3-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney starting 4th January, 2023. The series is already sealed by the Australian team, and they will miss a couple of their players in the last test match.

Australia won in Melbourne, but it was certainly not a smooth ride for them. Mitchell Starc injured his finger, but he still bowled in the 2nd innings with the help of painkillers. Cameron Green had a fracture, but still, he came out and scored a half-century with the bat.

In the post-match conference, Pat Cummins confirmed that both of the players will be missing the match in Sydney. Cummins has been excellent as the test captain of the side, and he would want to continue his winning streak with the Australian team.

Cameron Green replacement

Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc are officially ruled out of the last Sydney test. A recent X-Ray photo of Green has been released where it is clearly visible that Green’s finger was not at all fine, and he was dealing with a lot while batting in the 2nd innings of the Boxing Day test.

Australia have announced their squad for the last test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where Matt Renshaw and Ashton Agar have been added to the team in place of Mitchell Starc and Ashton Agar. Renshaw has been excellent in the domestic circuit with the bat, but it is unlikely that he will play the match. Recently, Usman Khawaja said that Renshaw is the able contender to replace David Warner.

Ashton Agar looks like the obvious contender to replace Green as like to like replacement. Looking at the conditions in Sydney, a spinner is always preferred, and Agar will be the spin-bowling all-rounder. Agar has played 4 tests so far, where he has scalped 9 wickets and has scored 195 runs. He is currently playing in the BBL 12 for Perth Scorchers.
