"Don't See That Too Often": Gautam Gambhir Smiles From Ear to Ear as LSG Dominate PBKS in Mohali

Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir was all smiles at the sight of his team dominating Punjab Kings in Mohali tonight. LSG, who have registered their fifth Indian Premier League 2023 victory, are back at the second spot on the points table. What a 56-run victory has also done is handed a shot in the arm to their NRR (Net Run Rate).

As is the literal meaning of his surname in Hindi, Gambhir is usually known for his “serious” demeanour. A man of few words in the general run of things, Gambhir is rarely seen expressing his emotions especially the funny ones.

Therefore, him smiling from ear to ear was enough a moment for the broadcaster to upload a video across social media handles. “Smiles, don’t see that too often from double G [Gautam Gambhir],” one of IPL 2023 commentators is heard saying in the video.

The exact incident had happened after PBKS wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma (24) hit a Yash Thakur (4/37) delivery straight to visiting captain KL Rahul (12) at mid-off. Having already hit three sixes during the first nine balls that he faced tonight, Sharma becoming the seventh Punjab batter to get out had all but confirmed a victory for Lucknow.

In spite of the fact that no such story has come up in the public domain for now, it wouldn’t be a surprise if an intriguing Gambhir-related anecdote is shared by one of their team members in the near future.

Taking into consideration how Super Giants had failed to chase down a 136-run target last week, them putting on display a completely different performance can’t be possible without an archetype pep talk from either Gambhir or some other member of the support staff or even Rahul.
