Eden Gardens Stadium Pitch Report for KKR vs CSK IPL 2023 Match in Kolkata

The 33rd match of the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League will take place between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings tomorrow, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Despite playing with a relatively inexperienced bowling attack, CSK have already notched-up four wins out of six matches so far, and are presently placed at the third spot in the points table.

While left-arm pacer Akash Singh has fared pretty well so far, the other pacers in Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana have also shouldered the responsibility handed to them by their skipper commendably well.

There doesn’t seem to be many problems in the batting department either, as they would certainly start as favourites against KKR tomorrow.

KKR, on the other hand, apart from the Rinku Singh special against Gujarat Titans a few days ago, have not really had the fans talking about them in positive light with respect to their performances and results.

They have now lost each of their previous three matches, on the back of some inconsistent performances in the batting department and lackluster show with the ball, especially by their pacers.

Pitch at the Eden Gardens had turned out to be excellent for batting during each of the two matches in this season so far. In fact, scores in excess of the 200-run mark have been accomplished thrice across these four innings. The highest team total so far this season – 228/4, was posted at this very venue by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“(Pitch) Bad for bowlers for sure (chuckles). No, really good wicket for the batters. They can come hard and if you put the ball in the right areas you can get wickets as well,” remarked SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the Eden Gardens pitch during the previous match at this venue.

Thus, one can expect yet another run-fest at Kolkata tomorrow. Teams batting first have won both the matches here so far, and thus it will be interesting to see what the they opt for upon winning the Toss tomorrow.
