England coaching staff 2021: List of England cricket team's support staff for Pakistan ODIs

England coaching staff 2021: England Cricket Board have had to arrange for an interim coaching team amidst COVID-19 outbreak in white-ball squad.

During the first ODI of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of England in Cardiff, England continued their winning spree in white-ball cricket this summer by defeating Pakistan comprehensively by 9 wickets.

Chasing a paltry 142-run target, England batsmen Dawid Malan (68 not out) and Zac Crawley (58 not out) registered individual half-centuries in an unbeaten 120-run partnership for the second wicket.

A stark difference between England’s victories against Sri Lanka earlier this month and against Pakistan yesterday was the individuals who took the field.

With a total of seven positive COVID-19 cases emerging from the team which played against Sri Lanka, England not only had to announce a whole new 18-member squad but also make arrangements for support staff for this series.

Originally scheduled to go on a break during the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, head coach Chris Silverwood returned to resume his coaching role in the absence of assistant coaches namely Graham Thorpe and Paul Collingwood.

Much like appointing a new ODI captain in Ben Stokes, England also had to appoint a new support staff drafting in coaches from a couple of counties.

While Anthony McGrath (Essex) and Alan Richardson (Worcestershire) were roped in for positions of batting and fast bowling coach respectively, former England batsman Jonathan Trott (127 international matches across formats) and former New Zealand spinner Jeetan Patel (78 international matches across formats) were included as batting and spin bowling coaches respectively.

Although in consultancy roles, it is worth mentioning that both Trott and Patel have been part of the English support team in the recent past.

Batting coach – Anthony McGrath and Jonathan Trott

Fast bowling coach – Alan Richardson
