IPL auction 2023 how many days: IPL 2023 auction end time in India

The much-anticipated mini auction ahead of next year’s 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), will take place today in the city of Kochi.

Unlike the mega auction which took place in February this year, the imminent one will overall be much more important for some franchises, and a bit less significant for a few others in terms of available slots left.

However, given the fact that it just takes a couple of brilliant individual performance in this format for the game to turn on its head, acquisition of some key players might well act as a difference between teams qualifying for the playoffs and the one lifting the title. This very nature of this format and the league makes way for a lip-smacking players auction.

Some of the big names who are likely to be part of the 80-odd players to be roped in by the ten franchises include Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Harry Brook, Cameron Green, Kane Williamson et al. The overseas players are likely to excite the franchise think-tanks, as all of them (barring players from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) have assured their availability during the entire duration of the tournament, set to commence either on March 31 or April 1, 2023.

The IPL 2023 mini auction will be a one-day event which will wrap up on the very day (Friday) itself.

All the franchises (barring SRH), have retained more than half the maximum permissible squad limit (25) ahead of the auction, and the imminent one will be about filing up the available slots with players whose skill sets teams require the most.

With a maximum of only 87 players up for grabs, the auction will last only for a day. While the bidding commences from 02:30 pm (IST) onwards, it is likely to wrap up by 09:00 pm as per the host broadcaster’s official schedule.
