Ricky Ponting, who earns INR 3.5 crores as Delhi Capitals head coach, has freed up lot of money to buy Cameron Green in IPL auction 2023

The IPL 2023 auction is not even a month away, and the teams are making their strategies to bid for the right players on the auction table. Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is tipped to be one of the highest earners in the auction, and Ricky Ponting has expressed his wish to sign the all-rounder.

The pace-bowling all-rounders are always in demand, and the performances of Green have certainly excited a lot of teams. Green has also announced that he will be playing for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL this year to gain some necessary T20 experience ahead of the IPL

In the recent T20I series between India and Australia, Green opened the batting for Australia in the absence of Warner. He was excellent with the bat, and he is also a wicket-taker. This is a very rare trait to have in a player, and he recently confirmed his participation in the IPL auction.

Not only the players but even the coaches get paid handsomely in the IPL. Former Australian great Ricky Ponting is the coach of Delhi Capitals, and he earns around INR 3.5 crores per season. Ponting is currently doing commentary with Channel 7 in the ongoing West Indies vs Australia 1st test.

In an interaction with Australian coach Andrew McDonald, Ponting was asking McDonald about how much it will cost for Delhi Capitals to sign the Aussie all-rounder. He said that they have freed a lot of their purse for the same.

“Keep your phone on tonight because I am really interested to have the IPL conversation with you about Cam Green because I have freed up a fair bit of money for Delhi Capitals,” Ricky Ponting said to Andrew McDonald.

Delhi Capitals certainly can be one of the many teams to bid for Cam Green in the auction. They have traded Shardul Thakur to Kolkata Knight Riders, who was worth INR 10.75 crores. They have a total of INR 19.45 crores left in their purse, and the Capitals certainly need a pace all-rounder.

Although, getting Green won’t be an easy task for the Capitals as the teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, etc have a great sum in their kitty, and Green is certainly assured of a great payday on the auction table.
