Surrey vs Somerset Live Telecast Channel in India and England: When and where to watch R Ashwin County Cricket match?

Surrey vs Somerset Live Telecast Channel: The SportsRush present before you the timing and live streaming details of County Championship.

One of the nine matches of the ongoing season of County Championship will be played between Surrey and Somerset at The Oval from tomorrow. A primary reason why this match will be closely followed in India will be the presence of premier Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Following batsman Hanuma Vihari’s stint for Warwickshire, Ashwin will become only the second player of the current Indian Test team to take part in County Championship 2021.

Set to play under England opening batsman Rory Burns (whom he dismissed thrice in four innings earlier this year), Ashwin’s teammates at Surrey will include the likes of Hashim Amla, Mark Stoneman, Jamie Overton and Aman Virdi. Readers must note that Ashwin has been signed as a second overseas player to replace injured all-rounder Kyle Jamieson who was earlier named Sean Abbott’s replacement.

With India scheduled to play a five-match Test series against England from August 4, Ashwin’s one-match stint should aid him in further acclimatizing to the conditions in England. After the schedule completion of the match on July 14, Ashwin will rejoin the Indian squad.

In the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton last month, Ashwin had picked match bowling figures of 25-10-45-4 and scored 22 and 7 in two innings respectively.

It is worth mentioning that Ashwin has played county cricket for Worcestershire (2017) and Nottinghamshire in the past. In County Championship 2019, Ashwin had picked 34 wickets in five matches at an average and strike rate of 24.58 and 52.5 respectively. Additionally, Ashwin had also scored 339 runs at an average of 37.66 including a couple of half-centuries in his maiden county season.

Had it not been for a groin injury which he sustained during India’s tour of England in 2018, Ashwin would’ve represented Worcestershire for the second season in a row.

In an update which is likely to not get much appreciation from the Indian fans, County Championship 2021 isn’t available for viewing on television channels either in India or England.

Talking about the Indian fans first, social media handles (mainly Twitter) are most likely to be their go-to options as live streaming of matches is unlikely to be available for them. Considering how active Twitter accounts of county clubs are, Indian fans will find selected match highlights over there. UPDATE: The match is being live streamed on Surrey County Cricket Club’s YouTube channel.

Online users in England can stream the match on ecb.co.uk. Below the login option (on the left side of the screen) on the homepage, fans will have to click on “Matches” and then “Follow Live” (under the County section).

The next page will comprise of links to all the matches as each of the 18 counties will be streaming the matches across their social media platforms. In addition to exploring the various social media platforms (including YouTube channels), fans can also watch the matches on England Cricket app.

English fans can also switch to BBC as commentaries of all the matches will be available after a new multi-year deal between BBC and ECB (England Cricket Board).
