Trent Bridge Nottingham Pitch Report For Women's Ashes 2023 Test Match

The only Test of the Women’s Ashes 2023 between Australia and England will be played at Trent Bridge. This is the first five-day Test match in English conditions. The step has been taken considering the weather conditions. Both teams will be eager to start the series with a win.

The Australian women’s cricket team is the best team in the division and they will go into the match as favourites. All-rounder Ellyse Perry’s record in Tests has been phenomenal and she will carry a huge responsibility on her shoulders. The absence of captain Meg Lanning may hurt the side but they have sufficient backups.

England Women have announced their playing XI for the match. White ball specialist Danni Wyatt will be making her Test debut in Nottingham. All the eyes will be on all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt who will be crucial with both bat and ball. Talking about the bowling composition (apart from all-rounders), they have one spinner and three pacers.

Trent Bridge Nottingham Pitch Report For Women’s Ashes 2023 Test

This is just the second Women’s Test at this venue. The last one was played way back in 1979 between England and West Indies. The track at the Trent Bridge has generally been good for batters and we have seen some brilliant batting performances at this venue.

The weather has been gloomy in Nottingham lately and the seam bowlers may take advantage of it. England Women’s have just picked one specialist spinner in their playing XI and this is an indication of the same. There will be a good amount of bounce available for the pacers and the batters may find it tough to settle down here. After getting set, they can post a big total.

The average first-innings score here has been 320 runs, whereas the average fourth-innings score has been 160 runs (in Men’s Test matches). Batting first has generally been the trend here but the pitch has been under the covers . The captains may take use of the moisture and overcast conditions with the new ball.
