Legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar and former Australia spinner Shane Warne shared a great on-field battle. Warne was one of the greatest players to ever grace the game and he used to make the batters dance to his tunes. However, Tendulkar was among those rare batters who dominated the leg-spinner.

Former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee once explained what made Tendulkar so efficient against Warne. It is often said that the batter should look at the release of the spinners in order to read the turn and the Master Blaster used to do the same. Lee agreed that Tendulkar was the one who used to frustrate Warne.
The fact that Tendulkar was so efficient on both the front and back foot helped him to negate the variations of Warne. Warne’s flipper used to be his biggest strength but Tendulkar played that with ease as well. There used to be rumours that Warne had nightmares about the Indian maestro, but he denied the same.
Brett Lee Once Explained How Sachin Tendulkar Toyed With Shane Warne
Talking to Star Sports on the show Cricket Connected, Lee revealed that Tendulkar used to read the variations by looking at the hands of Warne. As a result, Warne absolutely hated how the right-handed batter would always emerge the winner in this rivalry. The leggie even used to play with his trajectories but failed to deceive Tendulkar on most occasions.
“Every time he would try the subtle variations, there was only Sachin [Tendulkar] who would pick them up. Warne would bamboozle other batsmen around the world but Sachin would watch the hand much better than most of the other batsmen. Warne hated it, he would come back and say that he tried everything to get Sachin out, but he couldn’t,” Lee had said.
It is to be noted that both Tendulkar and Warne were great friends off the field. Warne used to go to Tendulkar’s place for dinners during his India visits. He was even confident to get the wicket of Tendulkar in their first-ever meeting. However, Warne once disagreed with Tendulkar on their views on Sandpaper Gate.
Warne passed away last year due to a suspected heart attack in Thailand putting the whole cricket fraternity in shock. A stand was named after Warne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after his demise.
How Many Times Shane Warne Dismissed Sachin Tendulkar?
In international cricket, both Warne and Tendulkar faced each other 29 times. Warne managed to dismiss Tendulkar just four times in the process. Speaking of the Indian Premier League, they faced off four times against each other with Tendulkar scoring 44 runs at the cost of getting out once.
