The third league match of Indian Premier League 2023 is being played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad. The home side won the toss and opted to bowl. SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the stand-in captain in the absence of the side’s new captain Aiden Markram in this match.

Kumar said at the toss that he will give his best as both captain and bowler in this match. As per Kumar, the batting will become a little easy in the second half.
“We will bowl first, looks like a good batting wicket. Will take advantage of the chase. Just the one game this time. I’ll try my best and do what is needed for the team,” Kumar told host broadcaster Star Sports Network at the toss.
Rajasthan’s captain Sanju Samson also wanted to bowl first but laughed that it is not in his control. Talking about the impact player, he revealed that he has done planning about the same with head coach Kumar Sangakkara.
Why is Aiden Markram Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match
Markram is not a part of the playing XI for the match. It is to be noted that he is not injured and is on national duty at the moment. He is currently playing the third ODI match against the Netherlands for South Africa.
Much like Markram, batter Heinrich Klaasen and all-rounder Marco Jansen are also playing the third ODI at the moment. All three of them will be available for the next match (away from home) of Hyderabad against Lucknow Super Giants on April 7.
The English duo of batter Harry Brook and spinner Adil Rashid are making their SRH debut, and both of them would want to make it count in this match. New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips and Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi are the other two overseas players for SRH.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was the side’s captain last season, but he was released from the squad ahead of the last auction. Under Markram’s captaincy, Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the title of the SA20 League.
