Cristiano Ronaldo regrets leaving Real Madrid after losing Ballon D'or against Lionel Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo regrets leaving Real Madrid after losing Ballon D’or race against Lionel Messi and Virgil Van Dijk with astronomical margin.

Cristiano Ronaldo was nowhere near winning the Ballon D’or award as he was way below his standards last season, and many believe that he was fortunate to get a top-3 podium in the award ceremony.

Nevertheless, the award being given to his fierce rival Lionel Messi would definitely make Ronaldo envious, as Messi’s Ballon D’or gives him a minor lead in the prestigious award tally over the Portuguese forward.

According to ABC per The Mirror, he’s told former teammates that he thinks he’d have added to his five previous Ballon d’Or successes if he stayed with ‘Los Blancos’.

In the Ballon D’or race, Messi usually dominated the tally, until Ronaldo won four in five years while winning four Champions League titles in the process.

It would not be wrong to say that the Portuguese International had the majority of his success with Los Blancos and after joining Juventus his achievements has not been equally significant.

Ronaldo last won the Ballon d’Or in 2017, with 2018’s nod going to former Real Madrid colleague Luka Modric and this year’s award going to  Messi.

Moreover with this current form over where he endured an unusually poor spell in front of goal for his club side and he failed to register at all in November.

Juventus fell to their first defeat under Maurizio Sarri on Saturday evening after losing to Lazio 3-1. However, Ronaldo has netted in his last two Serie A appearances so he could be getting back to his best.

On the other side, Messi is in phenomenal form and it looks that the Portuguese may have a hard time competing with the Argentine at the level he used to do before if things at Juventus remain the same for him.
