David de Gea new contract

David de Gea new contract: The Manchester United goalkeeper is set to sign a new contract at the club, according to reports.

Manchester United are currently 6th in the Premier League table. The side will take on Liverpool in a heavy-weight clash at Anfield on Sunday. Jurgen Klopp’s side are the only unbeaten team in the league so far.

The Manchester United board is currently undergoing the process of extending the contracts for players who are in the last year of their deal. After Luke Shaw was given a new deal in the beginning of the season, speculations have been made for new contracts for many club stars like Juan Mata and David de Gea.

While Jose Mourinho has reportedly conveyed to United board about extending Mata and Ander Herrera’s contract, he has publically stated that the club expects De Gea to sign a new deal.

Reports from England now suggest that a new deal is in place for the Spaniard.

David de Gea new contract:

The Spaniard has been one of the best Manchester United players in the recent years. De Gea won the Golden Glove in the Premier League last year. He made a shaky start to the 2018/19 season, but has still shown glimpses of his brilliance.

It has now been reported by English media outlet Sun that United have struck an agreement with de Gea to sign a new deal with the club.

According to the report, the new deal is set to be worth around £400,000, including bonuses.

De Gea joined Manchester United in 2011, and has since been their first-choice goalkeeper. He won four club player of the year trophies in the last five years at Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho recently suggested that the shot-stopper would sign a new contract at the club, calling him the best goalkeeper in the world.

“He is the best goalkeeper in the world and, if our ambitions are to be a big club, to be a winning club, you need the best goalkeeper in the world – and you need also some other players the best in the world.

“In this case, we have the best goalkeeper in the world and I know that he wants to stay.”

What next?

Manchester United will take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, where the side will aim to end Liverpool’s undefeated run in the Premier League.

The side has qualified for the Champions League’s round-of-16, and await their opponents in the knock-out round as the draw takes place on Monday.
