Dominic Thiem names his top ranked players by 2020
Dominic Thiem is on a hot streak at the moment. After dispatching the defending champion and world number two, Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal, Thiem will now face Rafael Nadal in the semi finals of the French Open. Federer had once called Thiem a future world number one, which means that it is only a question of when, rather than if Thiem will scale the tennis rankings. In a recent interview for GQ magazine, Dominic Thiem names his top ranked players by 2020.
‘Federer World No 1 in 2020? I don’t think so. He will be 39,’ Thiem joked, adding that younger players like Nick Kyrgios, Alexander Zverev will be even more at the top, ‘but Murray, Djokovic and Nadal will be 33-34, they will be there.’

When asked if he was splurge his recent winnings,
‘No crazy things! I am saver.
There is a long life after tennis! So I put apart some money. I hope to have a good and very comfortable life after my career. So I don’t buy crazy things in terms of shopping! I never bought a car, but I have a Rolex (who are his sponsors).

I buy something for apparel and football.’ He was finally asked about who is the favourite to win Roland Garros. ‘It’s clear that he (Nadal) is the favourite. He won three big titles this year (Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid).
And nine Roland-Garros! And then there is Djokovic. I have chances to win in Paris, but not as much as Rafa.’
Clearly, Dominic Thiem is destined for great things in the future. And he could take a huge step towards achieving superstar status if he beats Rafa in the semifinals.
