Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Why was Team Assault Disqualified from Dota Pro Circuit 2021?

Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Why was Team Assault Disqualified from Dota Pro Circuit 2021? Team Assault, who were a part of the SEA lower bracket for DPC 2021, have been disqualified from the tournament.

As the dates for the DPC season near us, another team will be leaving the competition before it even begins. The latest team to be disqualified from Dota Pro Circuit 2021 is Team Assault, who were a part of SEA lower bracket. PGL, the organizers of the DPC in the SEA region confirmed this news on Thursday, 14 January. They will be replaced by the Indonesian team Army Geniuses.

Team Assault was one of the 8 teams who managed to break into the lower bracket of SEA region, but their journey is now over. They consist entirely of Malaysian players. Some of the more popular members of Team Assault include former PSG.LGD.int players Wang “Gy” Kok Guan and Raymond “Rayy” Then Wan Jia.

Why was Team Assault disqualified from DPC 2021?

So, the answer to the question above is that a few members of Team Assault were found guilty of Account Sharing during the Qualifiers. Account sharing, as it states plainly, is sharing your account’s details with another player so they can play professional matches from the former’s account.

PGL has not given us any information about who is/are the persons found guilty in Team Assault. The initial suspicion began on Jan 10, when they surprisingly dismantled Team ZeroTwo  2-0 during Stage 2 of the qualifiers. The latter were the favorites to win, and this sudden turn of events got everyone thinking.

Later, TwoZero’s offlaner, Lee “X1aOyU” Qianyu, voiced his suspicions in a game with Indonesian streamer Ramzi “Ramz” Bayhaki. He thought the banned Newbee players, using the accounts of Team Assault’s players, were the ones playing. Based on the ping, he reckoned they were playing from China, not Malaysia. He reported his suspicions to PGL, which was found out to be true.
