Bumrah's participation in full IPL

Bumrah’s participation in full IPL: There are reports of the Indian fast bowler missing some part of IPL 2019.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was named the ‘Man of the Match’ for registering career-best bowling figures in the recently concluded third Test at Melbourne, might be seen as missing some part of the 12th season of the Indian Premier League.

If that happens, it will be majorly done in a bid to manage his workload. Bumrah, who plays all the three formats for India now, has been on the road for quite sometime now. The fact that he will be playing all the upcoming matches for India till the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 ends might want him to take a break for some part of the IPL.

“For someone of Virat’s stature, he can take a call himself and discuss with his franchise about his workload. However, for Bumrah, the Indian team’s support staff will need to prepare all the relevant data so that we can have a discussion with MI [Mumbai Indians] if the situation arises,” a source from the BCCI was quoted as saying by Times of India.

If that happens, Mumbai will have a near-impossible void to fill for replacing Bumrah is no mean task.

Since there are a very few days between IPL 2019 and the World Cup, there have been apprehensions regarding the participation of Indian bowlers for quite sometime now. Having said that, CoA member Diana Edulji had spoken of players playing the full tournament after the recently concluded IPL auction.

In which came as two contradicting statements from senior Indian players, India captain Virat Kohli supported the Indian bowlers skipping some part of the IPL. On the other hand, former captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni had opined regarding four overs won’t make the bowlers tired.

With all this build-up to the participation of Indian bowlers in the cash-rich league, one waits for an interesting outcome of the same.

The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
