“A new engine is coming”- Carlos Sainz optimistic about Ferrari’s chances in 2021
“A new engine is coming”- Carlos Sainz optimistic about the new changes being installed by Ferrari, in an attempt to have a better year.
Last year, Ferrari was at its lowest, since the turn of the millennium. The Italian outfit had a car and unsettled driver which propelled them to finish 7th in the Constructors’ table.
To replace Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari signed Carlos Sainz as early as possible. Now with the Spaniard started with his work at Maranello is optimistic about the things his new team is about to offer.
Speaking in an interview with Marca, Sainz said, “It’s incredible. These days at the factory are extraordinary. Put on the red jumpsuit, get into F1, the simulator, see the wheel with the Cavallino. There are many details that make you feel special.”
Meanwhile, it is not only the Ferrari camp who are looking ahead for a brighter future. Helmut Marko has also cautioned about the Ferrari redemption year.
Will aim to finish at a realistic target
People at Ferrari are not expecting to vie for the title in 2021, but are hoping for a 3rd place finish in 2021, defeating McLaren and Aston Martin in process.
“I already see some positive signs from Ferrari and improvements, and obviously a new engine is coming that should improve the situation a bit again, although I think the new year for everyone will be in 2022.”
Ferrari’s biggest concern was its underwhelming engine, which couldn’t have been improved within the season, whereas, it constantly tried to install upgrades to improve their aerodynamics and downforce.
At times, there were moments of brilliance by Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, but never enough to fulfil the prestige of Tifosi. Therefore, a stronger Ferrari than before is expected to further spice up the midfield battle, if not the title race.
