F1 Hulkenberg news: Nico Hulkenberg has not started the British Grand Prix, marking a terrible end to the weekend.
The German had a fairytale start to the week, after he was called in by Racing Point to replace his old pal Sergio Perez, who has tested positive for Covid-19.
Niko Hulkenberg had qualified 13th on the starting grid, and was expected to be on the points. But before the start of the race, Racing Point confirmed he will start from the pit lane.

But in a few minutes, Racing Point gave the most terrible news possible. As per Sky’s Martin Brundle, Racing Point couldn’t “fire up the power unit” of the RP20.
Nico Hulkenberg was in the garage throughout as fellow racers lined up on the starting grid to kick off the British Grand Prix. His race crew worked tirelessly to fire up his engine, but mysteriously enough, it did not.
From an unbelievable high to a terrible low for Hulkenberg
Nico Hulkenberg was due to travel to Germany for a punditry assignment and race in the GP2 series. But a SOS call from Racing Point changed everything for him. Nico “packed a bag and was in a plane within hours”.
Nico Hulkenberg has been in Formula One for a decade and has driven for the likes of Williams, Renault and Racing Point’s old avatar Force India. In spite of being a top driver, he has never been on a F1 podium. A competitive car like RP20 at the Silverstone, where Racing Point is based out of, seemed like an ideal situation. But it ends tragically for the German.
Nico Hulkenberg, will, deservingly, get another chance, at next weekend’s 70th anniversary Grand Prix, again at Silverstone.
