Carlos Sainz confident that Fred Vasseur-Charles Leclerc relationship will benefit him at Ferrari

With Fred Vasseur taking the role of team boss at Ferrari, many believe that he will play favourites among the drivers. But Carlos Sainz does not feel the same.

Having already worked with Charles Leclerc in Sauber in 2018, he has a pretty good relationship with the Monegasque driver. Contrastingly, Vasseur’s connection with Sainz is not so well known.

The only time that the duo interacted was when Vasseur had tried to sign him to Renault when he used to work with the French team, Sainz revealed.

Nevertheless, the Spaniard does not seem too worried about the Frenchman’s relationship with his teammate. On the other hand, he is confident that this good relationship will only help Vasseur acclimatise to life at Ferrari easily. This will further result in a boost for the team.

Split opinion about Fred Vasseur taking up the role at Ferrari

After failing in achieving the goal of winning the championship title, the Scuderia decided to remove Mattia Binotto.

Binotto had been with the team since 1995 and had climbed the ladder to the top as team boss in 2019. But after the debacle that the Italian giants went through over these few years, the team decided to let him go.

Ever since the announcement of Vasseur taking up Binotto’s role, experts are divided with split opinions about how the leadership will go on.

Many believe that since Vasseur does not have much experience running a team at the top of the grid, will he be able to manage the pressure at Ferrari.

Carlos Sainz thinks Vasseur is the right way to go for Ferrari

Autosprint asked the Spaniard about his opinion on the matter and Sainz said that he believes Vasseur is the right person for the team.

From what he has gathered and the way he has got to know him, Sainz thinks that Vasseur will be the right man.

“There will be a period of adaptation but Fred knows F1 and also Ferrari very well. Now there will be this preparation phase, then we will start working with him at full speed,” he further added.

Meanwhile, even though Vasseur is supposed to officially take the seat on 9 January, Italian media has reported that he has been visiting the Scuderia’s factory in Maranello and holding secret meetings.
