Daniil Kvyat has recently opened up on Sebastian Vettel and the nickname he thought of giving him. After being called ‘the Torpedo’, the former F1 driver has thought of returning the favor to the four-time world champion.
Speaking to the Track Limits podcast, Kvyat said he will name Vettel “A professional screamer or something like that.” Giving reason for his choice, the former Red Bull star conveyed that the German “likes to scream a lot on the radio.”

Kvyat changed his mind about the German soon after this. Speaking on this, he said that the retired F1 pilot has calmed down a lot now. But when the stakes were high, he would scream a lot.
As both Kvyat and Vettel are out of the sport now, the Russian recently looked back at his racing days and reminisced bitter-sweet memories.
Why did Vettel name Kvyat ‘the Torpedo’?
The Torpedo was first coined by Vettel during the 2016 Chinese Grand Prix. The German was with Ferrari back then, while the Russian was a Red Bull star.
Going into the 2016 Chinese GP race, Kvyat collided with Vettel twice and thus earned the nickname – the torpedo. As the race started, the Russian hit the German driver’s back, which made him lose control.

Later on, in the cooldown room, the then-Ferrari driver confronted the former Toro Rosso driver. He said, “You came in like a Torpedo.” And that’s how the name was coined.
Vettel tipped to make F1 return
The German star has sensationally been linked to a return to Formula 1. This comes after Sky Sports presenter Ted Kravitz believes he might make a comeback and side with his old team Red Bull.
However, Kravitz feels Vettel will not return as a driver after he retired from the duty of one. But, his return is more likely to be as a senior official in the Austrian team.
With a potential move to replace the aging Helmut Marko, Sebastian Vettel might make his surprise re-entry to the sport. But, there’s one more possibility. With Audi entering F1 in 2026, the 4-time world champion might side with them instead.
