F1 Sprint Qualifying: What is the schedule of the 2021 British Grand Prix at Silverstone?

Here is the full weekend schedule of the 2021 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, set to host Formula 1’s first-ever sprint qualifying event.

The much-awaited British Grand Prix is just around the corner, set to host F1’s first-ever sprint qualifying showpiece. It will be a traditional three-day weekend, but with one less practice session, to be replaced by the sprint qualifying session.

The weekend with start with Free Practice Session 1 and Qualifying on Friday. The latter’s results will set the grid for the Sprint Qualifying race, instead of the race on Sunday.

Saturday will begin with the Free Practice Session 2, followed by the 30-minute window Sprint Qualifying race. It has been confirmed that the winner of this season will be ratified as the pole position winner, and not the traditional qualifying session.

Silverstone to have full-capacity

In another exciting update regarding the iconic race, the British administration has allowed F1 to host a full capacity event at Silverstone. Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1, welcomed this decision, thanking British Premier Boris Johnson for the move.

“It is fantastic news that Silverstone will be a full capacity event and it will be an incredible weekend with hundreds of thousands of fans being there to see our first ever Sprint event on Saturday and the main event on Sunday.

“I want to express my huge appreciation to the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, Secretaries of State, Oliver Dowden and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Michael Gove and Silverstone’s Managing Director, Stuart Pringle for their tireless work to achieve this great outcome.

“All of the drivers and the teams are hugely looking forward to Silverstone and we can’t wait to be there in July.”
