Hollywood Starlet Who Defamed Max Verstappen, Gets Support From Sergio Perez’s Wife

Earlier this month, Vampire Diaries star Clare Holt decided to take to Instagram to brutally troll two-time world champion Max Verstappen, whom she referred to as a ‘grouchy baby’. After receiving a lot of backlash from it online, she decided to put up another post to take the trolls even further, this time taking a dig at the fans. Now, Sergio Perez’s wife has involved herself in the saga by liking the post that Holt shared.

The majority of the F1 fanbase wasn’t supportive of what Holt had to say about Verstappen. In a Q&A session with her fans, she revealed that Verstappen’s dominance bored him. She labeled Max Verstappen as a “grouchy baby” and called for Perez to “kick his a**”.

Unfortunately, she was on the receiving end of some pretty misogynist comments after her public defamation of Verstappen. To respond to this, she put up an Instagram post defending her comments. Sergio Perez‘s wife, Carola Martinez, ended up showing support to Holt on the matter. This escalated rumors of tensions between the Red Bull teammates, amid rumors of Perez being replaced.

A rift between Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen?

Tensions at Red Bull regarding Perez’s future have been very high recently, especially after Helmut Marko revealed that they will be evaluating Daniel Ricciardo later this year in the tire test. Perez is evidently not happy with being a second driver at the time, even though he isn’t able to match Verstappen on pure pace.

Perez’s wife seems to have increased the tensions now, by liking Claire Holt’s post, where she defends her action of calling Max Verstappen a “grouchy baby”. Carola Martinez seemingly appreciated the Mean Girls 2 star’s words. Fans, on the other hand, feel that there’s something bigger going on behind the scenes at Red Bull.

“There has to be serious beef at Red Bull,” Stefanie wrote on Twitter in a reply.

There are other fans who aren’t happy with Perez’s wife showing their support to someone who went out of their way to attack an F1 driver. One fan even pointed out a moment where Perez himself was extremely sexist towards the idea of women in motorsports.

Perez’s own misogyny highlights his wife’s hypocrisy

Sergio Perez once shocked the entire world, by publicly stating that women should remain in the kitchen. These comments were made in 2014, when Susie Wolff, wife of Mercedes boss Toto was the test driver at Williams. She was set to take part in the FP1 session in Silverstone, becoming the first female driver in 22 years to do so.

Perez had to apologize for the comments, and even though Wolff didn’t take them too seriously in public, it is obvious that the situation was upsetting.

Now that Perez’s wife is showing support to a woman, who is defending her unprovoked actions against sexist comments on the internet, fans cannot help but notice the hypocrisy.

In F1, Perez has gone three races without standing on the podium. This has increased the amount of pressure on him, as rumors surrounding his exit keep growing every day.
