“Lando is the more experienced” – Daniel Ricciardo eager to learn from McLaren teammate Lando Norris
“Lando is the more experienced” – Daniel Ricciardo is eager to learn from his ‘senior’ McLaren teammate Lando Norris.
Daniel Ricciardo is one of the most experienced drivers on the current grid. His Formula 1 CV boasts 188 races, 31 podium finishes, and seven wins.

So, one would have naturally assumed that he will take the role of the ‘mentor’ to Lando Norris after switching to McLaren from Renault. But, instead, the Australian seems open to the idea of learning from the Brit. His argument is pretty sound in a way – Norris has more experience in McLaren. Ricciardo explained this idea for us to contemplate, as quoted by GPFans.
“It’s funny. I’m certainly the more experienced in terms of F1, this being my 11th season, but in terms of McLaren, Lando is the more experienced. For sure, there are some things I can learn from him, particularly within the team itself, the integration into the McLaren family.
“Every time you have a new team-mate, it’s a real opportunity to learn something new, like work ethic or a driving technique, or both. I’m always pretty open-minded. I know every driver has confidence in themselves and their ability, and I’m very confident as an individual but also open-minded.
“If there’s something I can take from Lando and use it to better myself then obviously I’m looking to learn as much as I can.”
Both drivers extremely fun to watch on and off the grid, and it would fascinating to see if and how they gel. This, especially considering both are very fierce competitors. With McLaren set to face strong competition from the likes of Renault, Aston Martin, and Ferrari, both Ricciardo and Norris would have to be at the top of their game, both individually and as a team.
