The 2023 British Grand Prix saw Lando Norris put up a magnanimous performance. Having seen the young Briton in this avatar, there are talks already about the McLaren driver’s future away from Woking. With Red Bull and Ferrari as possible destinations, Norris received a warning that could lead to hell.
Norris‘ contract with the Papayas expires at the end of the 2025 F1 season. With him yet to renew his contract, there are talks about securing the service of the 23-year-old alongside Max Verstappen., something similar to Charles Leclerc.
However, both destinations can be a wrong move for him as the Prancing Horse is not in a place to produce a championship-worthy challenger. Not anytime soon. As things stand, the Italian team is behind McLaren regarding pure pace.
On the other hand, the British driver could find himself clueless against the dominant Dutchman in Red Bull. Furthermore, with Verstappen and Norris’s dynamic, things might be tricky for the drivers and the team.
Why the Red Bull switch might not work for Norris?
Ever since the two-time world champion arrived at Red Bull, he always had the upper hand in the team. With him delivering week in and week out, he left no space for his teammate to overtake him.
Not once or twice; this has been the case multiple times. From Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly to Alex Albon and now Sergio Perez. All of Verstappen’s teammates lost footing against the clinical Dutchman.

Speaking about this, renowned F1 expert Joe Saward wrote in his notebook, “[Lando Norris] going to Red Bull and trying to beat Max Verstappen is also a career path from hell,” however, after leaving Red Bull, the drivers have been found to have a messy career post-Austrian team departure.
Admittedly, after leaving the Milton-Keynes-based team, Ricciardo ended up in Renault, McLaren, and now back to its sister team AlphaTauri. Albon had a year off and is now in Williams. On the other hand, Gasly was demoted to AlphaTauri and now is in Alpine [formerly Renault]
Liberty Media plays its part in Norris’s addition
With Perez underperforming, Verstappen has already taken a huge lead in the world championship. Despite starting the year on a good note, the Mexican failed to continue his form, and as a result, 2023 has become yet another Max Verstappen show.
With that not working, and the season is already dubbed as boring, Liberty Media, as per PlanetF1, hinted at Red Bull for having two drivers who can compete against each other and deliver a great championship battle.
That will not only increase viewership but also increase online engagement, giving Formula 1 Group massive profit. And as things stand, there’s nobody better than Lando Norris at this stage, with Charles Leclerc unwilling to leave Ferrari.
