Lewis Hamilton battled flat-out against Max Verstappen in the 2021 season. But his struggles saw a controversial end to the 2021 season.
Hamilton believes that he was wronged in the 2021 season finale and even said that he lost a little bit of faith in the fair policing of F1.
The 7-time world champion headed into the 2022 season hoping to claim his record 8th title, but Mercedes’ problem child did not let it happen.
Even after finishing P6 in the drivers’ standings, his lowest-ever championship finish, Hamilton is motivated to get back and fight.
He revealed that he is eyeing his record eighth title and told the media, “We definitely have a championship that we need to get back.”

Lewis Hamilton reveals criteria for F1 retirement
After a tough season in 2022 where he lost his streak of taking a win in every season that he has participated in, Hamilton’s motivation does not seem to have dented.
Asked if the struggles of 2022 impacted his thoughts on his future, the Briton said, “it is difficult to say.”
At 38, Hamilton is the second oldest driver on the grid next to Fernando Alonso and after the troubling last two seasons, he has often been presented with the question of retirement.
The Mercedes star explained that a driver needs to ask themselves if they are willing to give as much as they did when they first started.
Additionally, if at any point he feels like he’s just arriving and coasting along, then that is when he would want to stop and think that he doesn’t deserve a podium.
Hamilton loves the challenge with his team
Mercedes saw an end to its 8 years of dominance in the 2022 season and slipped to P3 in the constructors’ championship.
But going forward the team is hoping for nothing but positives coming his way. The Briton himself is quite motivated to be part of the challenge that he and his team have been presented with.
He told the media that he can’t wait to get back to the top and finally get that championship win. And that result is going to make all the struggles worthwhile.
