“Max had a slow car from the start. Red Bull Racing should give him a faster car. Max has become a powerful driver and keeps moving forward. Now he needs a car to prove it. Red Bull also knows where he’s weak, and on that it needs to works,” he said.
“Max performed well”- Jos Verstappen analyses his son’s 2020 performances
“Max performed well”- Jos Verstappen says that he expected a title challenge by his son, but the results from first few races signalled negative.
Max Verstappen was the only challenge to Mercedes’ might in 2020, and even he remained distant from the world champions Lewis Hamilton, though combated with Valtteri Bottas till the end of the season.
While talking about his son’s performance, Jos Verstappen has given a favourable judgment to his son’s accounts, who managed to bag two wins in 2020.
“The Abu Dhabi qualifying rounds were quite interesting, and I was hoping Max had a good start because Red Bull Racing doesn’t always start well. But everything went well in the race, and I was relieved a little,” he said according to Motorsport.com.
“The race wasn’t the most fun, but I liked it because my son won. If he starts this season like he finished last year, he’ll have a chance to fight for the championship.”
“We had hoped Max would be able to fight for the title this year. But after a few races, it became clear what we could hope for from this season. It could have been better, but Max performed well.”
“He constantly struggled and proved to be one of the best. But to win the championship, everything else became clear. also needs to be done right.”
Blame it on Red Bull
While praising his son, he also mentioned Red Bull’s demerits, which according to him kept Max’s title challenge limited, and now demands a faster car for 2021.
