Max Verstappen claims to quit F1 if his kid aspires to be a racing driver

Max Verstappen is only 25 and already has two championships and 35 race wins in his decorated F1 career. At this age, he is touted to achieve even more greatness and shatter every record.

At this rate, if luck remains by his side, he can even join Lewis Hamilton in 100 wins club. The latter is the only one present at that precious ‘100 tag’.

However, Verstappen has often claimed that F1 is a hectic sport, and he doesn’t see himself doing it for so long. And recently he has told what could be the points that could make him go away from motorsport.

Max Verstappen can leave if F1 if his child wants to be in motorsport

Raising an F1 talent is not an easy task. The sport is intensely competitive as, in the end, only 20 drivers can race at once. Thus, there is massively hard work in working all the way to the top.

Verstappen has had that journey with his father and former F1 driver, Jos Verstappen. The Dutchman reveals that he will leave F1 if his kid wants to be an F1 driver.

“if you do go all out with your son or daughter, then you can no longer drive in Formula 1 yourself, I think. You have to start laying the foundation from the age of four. I want to be there myself,” said Verstappen.

He also says he will never push his kids to be in F1. As of now, Verstappen is far from taking that tough decision. He and his partner Kelly Piquet aren’t expecting a child anytime soon, and even if they do in the near future, as he said, he has four years with him before the decision is made.

He can pull a Nico Rosberg

Even though he is 25 years old, Verstappen has already done seven seasons of F1. Most F1 drivers don’t even see a career that long in this sport and many greats choose to retire after 14-15 years.

So, Verstappen is technically halfway there. By the time he has done 15 seasons, he would only be 32. For many drivers, it’s their peak. But a minority of F1 drivers have chosen retirement at their peaks.

Nico Rosberg, only 31, won the championship, and a few days later, he announced his retirement. Even though Mercedes had a $100 million offer for him, he still walked away. Similarly, Verstappen in 2022 said maybe he only has 6-7 years left in him.

So at the peak of his career. Around 31-32, Verstappen can choose to be with his family by leaving the hectic F1 life. Even if he decides to stop, most F1 drivers could kill someone to have his stats.
