Max Verstappen: Jenson Button compares Red Bull driver to the likes of Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher

Max Verstappen: Former champion Jenson Button compared Verstappen to Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher for ruthlessly dominating their teammate.

Jenson Button knows all about being a Formula 1 champion. The Brit won his only World Drivers’ Championship with Brawn GP, in their only season at Formula 1. Now, he has his bets on Max Verstappen winning it soon, considering the mighty performances the Dutch is putting in week after week.

Now only that, Button went to compare Verstappen to two legends of the sport. According to him, the way Verstappen is dominating Alex Albon, it reminds him of Aryton Senna and Michael Schumacher. He also hopes that Verstappen can put up a stronger challenge to Lewis Hamilton for the title.

“I haven’t seen that in Formula 1 for a long time. Then you really have to go back to the days of Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. It has been a really long time since a driver wrecked his teammate. I would like to see him compete against Lewis Hamilton for the world title. That’s all you want to see in the sport,”

Verstappen frustrated with Red Bull

Button also spoke about Max’s apparent frustration with the limitations of the Red Bull. Even though he is pushing for it, Mercedes is far superior than Red Bull, or for that matter, any team on the grid currently. This was evident especially in the Spanish Grand Prix, at Barcelona.

”For Max, it’s very difficult without a competitive teammate. You have to do it yourself and then you don’t make that much progress. Max won’t look at Albon’s setup, but rather at Mercedes and he gets frustrated by that”.

”In Silverstone Verstappen was great, but in Barcelona you immediately notice the frustration about the onboard radio. He can’t challenge Mercedes with the car he has. He has to make do with that car and get the most out of it, but that’s very difficult.”
