Nico Rosberg excludes Lewis Hamilton from top 3 in his 2022 F1 rankings

The year 2022 was unfortunate for Mercedes as the leaders agreed they got their year all wrong and remained out of the title contention. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton was even more unlucky as he was at the end of every experiment run by his team.

In the end, he finished the season on P6 with nine podiums. Meanwhile, his teammate, who had his debut with Mercedes, finished P4 with an edge of over 35 points.

The 24-year-old became Hamilton’s third teammate to beat him in the same car. And the only teammate who hasn’t won a championship makes it even more special. The other two are Jenson Button at McLaren and Nico Rosberg at Mercedes.

Despite the tough year, Hamilton managed to cling on to the standings and missed P5 in the championship by only six points. Yet, Rosberg sees him out of the top three of his personal rankings from the 2022 season.

First on his podium for the 2022 personal rankings is Max Verstappen, who won the 2022 title comprehensively with 15 race wins in his kit. Followed by Hamilton’s teammate Russell and in P3, it’s Charles Leclerc.

In P4, he had ranked Hamilton. For him, the 103 Grand Prix winner had a tough year and was unlucky through most of the 2022 season. He says if Hamilton had been on the better end, he would have been at par with his teammate in points.

Ready to be back in 2023

The seven-time world champion Hamilton was out of contention for the championship, and his teammate Russell. But by the end of the season, Mercedes was aiming for at least a win.

They got in Brazil, but Russell got the standalone win for the Silver Arrows, which broke Hamilton’s precious 15-year-old streak of getting a win at least once a season.

But for the next season, Mercedes is aiming for the title. They have claimed to be competitive like they have been throughout the rest of the turbo-hybrid era.

In 2022, Russell and Hamilton had shown great camaraderie. But will that continue if they both start vying for the title? That is a big question for every F1 fan.
