Pierre Gasly F1: Italian Grand Prix winner missed the call from French Presidents in between celebration

Pierre Gasly will never forget the 6th of September, 2020. This is the day he won the craziest of F1 races in recent memory.

A red flag saw Lewis Hamilton illegally making a pit stop, for which he served a 10 second stop and go penalty. This allowed Gasly to take the lead and hold off Carlos Sainz off the win. He spoke after the race describing the win as “unbelievable”.

“It was such a crazy race, and we capitalised on the red flag, our car was fast and we had a really fast car behind us”.

He also thanked his AlphaTauri and Honda teams for supporting him throughout his journey with them. It has been quite a season for him, after being denoted by Red Bull last season.

“I’ve got no words. This team has done so much for me. They gave me my first podium and now have given me my first win. It’s an amazing day

Gasly receives a call from French President

Pierre Gasly also revealed he had received a call from the French President. That turned out to be a missed call, as he was too caught up in other celebratory matters then. This win is special for France, as Gasly is the first French F1 race winner since 1996. Watch the video below where he reveals this:
