“That’s Why I’m Happy”: Charles Leclerc Rubs Salt in Mattia Binotto’s Wounds With Latest Fred Vasseur Update
Charles Leclerc has recently revealed that he has full faith in Ferrari’s new boss, Frederic Vasseur. The Frenchman has been implementing necessary changes since he took charge after the sacking of Mattia Binotto at the end of the 2022 F1 season.
The Italian team took the harsh decision after a series of failures that jeopardized the team’s and Leclerc’s title shots last season. The list is endless when it comes to Ferrari’s mistakes last year.
Firstly, the team failed to live up to the challenges thrown by Red Bull. And secondly, the Maranello-based team was also bad with their strategy and failed miserably when it came to reliability.
Despite having the upper hand in the first half of the season, the Prancing Horse threw away all their advantages to Red Bull. In the end, they could only manage P2 in the Constructors’ Championships.
Happy Charles Leclerc believes in Fred Vasseur
As Ferrari brought in Vasseur after Binotto’s failure, the former Alfa Romeo man is expected to get on to his work pretty soon. When asked about his opinion on the necessary changes, Leclerc said that he has full faith in the new boss.
Following this, the Monegasque driver added as per Formel1,
“Up until now, he has mainly tried to analyze the situation as quickly as possible in order to be able to make the best possible changes for the future. I think most of the work will start from now, we’ll see.“
The 25-year-old further asserted that he is happy that things are looking to fall into place. As he trusts his boss, he conveyed, “I’m sure these are the right decisions and they go in the right direction for the team. That’s why I’m happy.”
Leclerc and Vasseur’s working relationship
Charles Leclerc and Frederic Vasseur have a good working relationship between themselves. Their bonding started during their Sauber days when they worked together for the Switzerland team.

After Leclerc jumped ship to Ferrari in 2019 and Vasseur arrived in Maranello in 2023, the duo has reunited again. This gave the Tifosi their much-needed impetus ahead of the big 2023 season.
As the Monegasque already said, he trusts his boss and vice versa, the Prancing Horse star also revealed that he talks to him a lot and is well aware of his medium and long-term plans for Scuderia Ferrari.
