"We regret to confirm"- Fernando Alonso will not attend virtual launch of Alpine's A521 F1 car

“We regret to confirm”- Fernando Alonso will not be taking part in Alpine’s A521 F1 car launch. Next week, as he continues his preparation.

Fernando Alonso met with an accident that fractured his jaw and required him to go through surgery. After 48 hours in the hospital, the Spaniard was discharged.

Though, his recovery halted his preparation with alpine for the 2021 season. And that is why he will not be available for the virtual launch of Alpine A521 for 2021.

“We regret to confirm that Fernando Alonso will not be present for the media Q&A on this occasion,” the team stated. “The sanitary situation and corresponding regulations in place do not allow him to do any communications and marketing activities while he undertakes his critical season preparation.

“We will instead publish a Q&A with Fernando for media use, and he will be available for media in Bahrain for official pre-season testing.” Alpine will present A521 on Tuesday.

The rescheduling of his preparation is being seen as the main reason for his absence, as the Bahrain test will be ten days later to the presentation.

Avoid cycling Fernando

Flavio Briatore, who used to head Renault, has advice Fernando Alonso to stay away from bicycling following his accident in Switzerland earlier this month.

“Fernando’s very fit, apart from the accident involving the bike. I talk to him every day. I tell Fernando to stop with his bike because his bike is very dangerous,” he said in an interview with Peter Windsor.

“If you want to go, you go with a mountain bike, not on the street. I tell him if you don’t stop with the bike, I’ll lock you in the garage – not the bike, I’ll lock you in the garage.”

After the accident, it was Alonso himself to update about his well being and contradict the reports of severe injuries.
