Fans on social media complain about the inconsistency of VAR in Premier League

Fans on social media in massive numbers are criticizing the inconsistency in the judgements of VAR amidst numerous controversies around it.

Video assistant referee is not having the debut season in the Premier League as fans had expected at the start of the campaign. The technology has already faced massive criticism from fans on a number of occasions.

But this time, fans felt disappointed after they spotted inconsistency in the decisions made by VAR in this season. It came after Arsenal was awarded a penalty against Norwich City in the 15th game-week match.

Pierre Emrick Aubameyang took the charge to convert it for the Gunners but Tim Krul saved it in an impressive fashion. However, the VAR came into the play and decided to give Arsenal another chance in front of goal as Krul apparently came ahead of the goal-line even before Aubameyang scored.

Thus, some fans felt that their teams were not given some advantage when the opposite referee came out of the line and denied them the goal.

One specific game highlighted is when Norwich welcomed Manchester United to Carrow Road. Krul saved two penalties from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford but Krul was off his line for both.

Furthermore, even Max Aarons was also encroaching during one of the spot-kicks. VAR’s first three months in the Premier League have been filled with inconsistencies especially when it comes to handball and penalty decisions.

Apart from the fans, even fans and managers have come out to speak against the implementation of it. Also, there have been allegations that it is selectively favouring few teams against the others.

Meanwhile, Norwich once again regained the lead after Todd Cantwell found the right bottom corner. But after a while, Aubameyang equalized the score for the Gunners.
