With the IPL just a few months away, we are continuing our build up towards India’s biggest cricket carnival.

The mega auction took place a few weeks back, where all eight franchises bought a fresh set of players, and well-equipped themselves for the next three years.
But there were some price tags that raised quite a few eyebrows, as players went for amounts that far exceeded their perceived worth by fans all over the world.
This edition of the IPL will see many records be broken, as the players will be looking to create a name for themselves in the league.
Here are five of the most incredible records in IPL history!
Chris Gayle – 265 sixes
The big West Indian has been a legend in the shortest format of the game, as an in-form Chris Gayle was practically unstoppable.
The Jamaican batsman has hit a staggering total of 265 sixes in 101 IPL matches. After three seasons with KKR, Gayle found his spiritual home at RCB.
While there are many records that could be broken this year, Gayle’s record of hitting the maximum number of sixes is under no immediate threat, with Suresh Raina being his nearest challenger with 173 sixes.
Amit Mishra – 3 Hat-tricks
Arguably the most under rated bowler in IPL history, Amit Mishra will be remembered as one of the best players in the history of the league.
No Indian has picked up more wickets than Amit Mishra in IPL history, with only Malinga in the all-time wickets leader board.
Mishra also holds the record of taking the maximum number of hat-tricks with three in IPL history.
In addition to this, he has three four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul to his name.
Under rated indeed!
Chennai Super Kings – Eight playoff appearances in eight seasons
For the first eight years, CSK were the most successful team in IPL history, as they boasted a win percentage of 59.84.
They also held the unique record of being the only team to reach the knockout stages of every season that they played in.
CSK have also reached the final on a total of six occasions, another incredible feat from the Chennai franchise.
Aaron Finch – Seven IPL franchises
The burly Aussie has played for seven IPL franchises, more than any other player in the history of the league.
Parthiv Patel comes close, as the keeper played for six franchises over the last decade.
In comparison to them, Harbhajan Singh (Mumbai Indians), Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians), Shaun Marsh (Kings XI Punjab) and Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore) played for only one team for the first ten seasons.
Virat Kohli – 4 IPL centuries in 2016
There was nothing that RCB captain, Virat Kohli could not do during the 2016 IPL season. The right hander was in sublime form, as he scored 973 runs in 16 innings in the season at an average of 81.08 and a strike-rate of 152.03.
The only problem was that he could not take his team to the title, as RCB lost out to Sunrisers Huderabad in the final.
But that should not take anything away from the Indian skipper, as Kohli hit four centuries that season, a record that is unlikely to be matched this or any other season.
