es3tag to stand-in for FaZe as BLAST rejects bid to rope in k0nfig

FaZe Clan was left stranded earlier today as BLAST management rejected their bid to bring in k0nfig as a stand-in. Håvard “rain” Nygaard will be missing the tournament as he’s expecting the birth of his child. The stand-in situation came to a head when BLAST claimed that k0nfig wouldn’t be able to play for FaZe. This is because k0nfig was reportedly listed as a substitute for Heroic. Now, FaZe Clan have recruited former Ninjas in Pyjamas member es3tag.

Patrick ‘es3tag’ Hansen will now be the fifth man on the squad. The last time FaZe played with a stand-in they picked up a trophy with Justin ‘jks’ Savage. Dubbing it the ‘stand-in buff’ the official FaZe Clan Twitter account announced the move on Twitter. As of now, the following members will play for the team:

  • Helvijs “broky” Saukants
  • Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
  • Finn “karrigan” Andersen
  • Robin “ropz” Kool
  • Patrick “es3tag” Hansen (stand-in)

BLAST had given HLTV a detailed statement as to why the k0nfig substitution was blocked:

“FaZe have requested the use of k0nfig as an emergency substitution for the Spring Groups. This request to use k0nfig as an emergency substitution for the Spring Groups has been denied as he is registered on another team’s roster for this event. The request for an emergency substitution has been accepted as they only have four players currently available in Denmark. An update on the substitute will be made as soon as we have it.”

The search has led the team to es3tag who will be looking to make a mark after being replaced by Daniil “headtr1ck” Valitov on Ninjas in Pyjamas.
