Ever since xQc signed a $ 100 million 2-year non-exclusive streaming contract with Kick, he has been facing a lot of backlash. Most of the comments have come within the community from streamers who question his move.

In a recent interview with Jake Lucky, Twitch CEO, Dan Clancy talked about a lot of things including xQc’s deal with Kick. This deal had the world shocked because of the amount that Kick invested into him.

Twitch versus Kick debate also picked up pace after this. Since xQc’s deal was a non-exclusive one, it opened up the debate of whether or not streamers should sign exclusive streaming deals with platforms.

Clancy answered all of this and told Lucky that he was “excited” about xQc’s deal with.

Twitch CEO discusses xQc and Kick deal

Besides xQc, even Twitch’s top female streamer, Amouranth made the move to Kick with a $ 30 million deal.

In the interview when Lucky asked Clancy about the deal, he said it gave xQc more leeway to explore his content, something which wasn’t possible on Twitch due to some reasons.

Clancy explained how the deal is in favor of the streaming world itself and would give xQc “flexibility and the freedom”. He said:

“If you ask me about Felix I’d say I’m excited for Felix. If you look at the situation he’s in, he’s getting to do stuff there that in our policies we’re not letting him do. And so it gives him the flexibility and the freedom to explore his own creative expression.”

“You should be able to explore,” says Twitch CEO

During the interview, they also touched on the topic of streaming exclusively and non-exclusively. Clancy made it extremely clear that he believes every streamer is allowed to choose the platform they wish to stream on when it comes to the kind of content one platform might flag. He said:

“I won’t say which streamer I was talking to but one streamer that was talking about doing something on YouTube in terms of a wrestling match or something, where it’s like, yes, you should be able to explore and figure out what is the right platform for the right things.”

He didn’t say much about what steamers could do about wanting to stream on other platforms while having an exclusivity streaming deal with Twitch.

As far as xQc is concerned, he had opened up about how he didn’t have an exclusive deal with Twitch anymore. In hindsight, a non-exclusive deal with Kick does feel more appropriate for him.
