India announce 13-member squad for Sydney Test

India announce 13-member squad for Sydney Test: Sportsrush presents before you India’s 13-member squad for Sydney Test.

India have announced a 13-member squad ahead of the fourth Test of India’s tour of Australia at Sydney. Other than the players, the squad has seen yet another instance of the Indian team management saying something and doing the complete opposite.

The miscommunication this time has developed around premier India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. While India’s spokesperson ruled Ashwin out of the Sydney Test, his name was found in the 13-member squad with the condition of a final assessment to be made on the morning of the match, i.e., tomorrow.

If Ashwin regains fitness on time, will he replace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (who bowled well in Melbourne Test) or will India play two spinners will be interesting to see.

The other major development includes that of fast bowler Umesh Yadav in place of Ishant Sharma. Apparently, Ishant Sharma has experienced some left rib-cage discomfort. Not wanting to risk him with a niggle, the team management is current assessing him.

Left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has also been included in the squad as the 13th member. His inclusion puts forward a strong case of India fielding two spinners tomorrow.

A major conundrum which came India’s way was to finalize on middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma’s replacement. With him traveling back to India to be with his wife and newborn daughter, India have recalled opening batsman Lokesh Rahul.

Rahul’s inclusion means that he will open the batting alongside Mayank Agarwal at SCG. The same will be a relief for Hanuma Vihari, who will get to bat at his preferred No. 6 position.

Having gained a 2-1 series lead, India have regained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Irrespective of the outcome of the fourth Test, they will take home the trophy.
