Fantasy Tips for DD vs RR

The business end of the tournament has well and truly arrived and teams will now be looking to put their foot on the pedal and go into overdrive. Any stutter now, and it could ruin their IPL campaign for good.

DD find themselves right against the wall, and need a ‘summer miracle’ in order to help them thread through and reach the playoff stage.

RR are in that playoff mix at this stage but don’t really have a direction of as to how they should go about their work. Buttler and Stokes are supposed to win them at least 3 games, and they haven’t won them any. Maybe they were waiting for this final phase of the league stage? That’s what RR fans would be hoping for.

Let’s get to business now!

Now, I already have Avesh Khan and Shreyas Iyer in my side for this game.

I will be making just one substitution for this game, as both DD and RR don’t play for sometime after this game.

Now, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer seem to be biggest impact players for this game.

Jofra has taken the IPL by storm ever since gracing the Indian subcontinent with his presence. He has taken 6 wickets in 2 games and has bowled with extreme pace and accuracy.

Rahane has identified him as his number one death bowler, thereby giving Jofra the opportunity to take bucketloads of wickets. And Jofra has delivered big time and could maybe gift you with a windfall of points tonight as well.

Now, while Jofra has been in fine form, why even consider Ben Stokes?

Stokes is due for a big one and the sheer reason that he bowls at least 3 overs and bats at number 4 provides him a direct entry into my consideration set.

Now, Ben Stokes’ all-round ability and the amount of trust RR show in him make me try and somehow draft him into my side.

I cannot get both Archer and Stokes in and thus I try and apply my usual strategy of getting in the bowler if he bowls first and getting in the other player otherwise.

Again, the reason for that being that the bowler would 100% get to utilise his death bowling skills in the 1st innings. In the 2nd innings the chasing team could chase down the score before the entire 20 overs are bowled and hence Archer’s death bowling skills might not be needed.

I won’t be bringing in any other capped players into my side for this game.

If you want to, Trent Boult seems to be the safest possible option as he bowls up front when there is some help for the bowlers and is sure to bowl at least 2 overs at the death as well.

For the uncapped player, I won’t be getting in any player from this game, despite a lot of  them being up for grabs, primarily because my team combination and the cost constraints don’t allow me to do so.

I’ll be getting in KM Asif from the next game who cranked up some serious pace in CSK’s last game.

If you can, Prithvi Shaw, who could really take toll of this rather meek RR bowling attack.

Match Powerplayer- Ben Stokes(if RR bat first)/Jofra Archer(if RR bowl firs)

2nd innings Powerplayer- Shreyas Iyer(if DD bat second)/Avesh Khan(if DD bowl second)

Now, I already have Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Jofra Archer in my side for this game.

Ben Stokes would be the first player that I get into my side here for reasons already mentioned in the IPL Fantasy League section.

Ish Sodhi can be a very good differential buy today, as his trickery can bamboozle the batsman big time. Sodhi is a former World number 1 T20 bowler and could run through that DD middle order.

If you want to be a little safe, you could go in with Sanju Samson, who has looked in fine form this season.

Now, who between Munro and Maxwell could fire tonight? I’ll get one of them in just to cover all by bases and hence I’ll go in with Munro if DD bat second and Maxwell if DD bat first.

Batting Powerplayer: Shreyas Iyer

Bowling Powerplayer: Jofra Archer
